NEWPORT, R.I. (March 13, 2020) – After careful consideration the C. Thomas Clagett, Jr. Memorial Clinic and Regatta has decided as a result of the current situation with the Coronavirus COVID-19, to change the date of the annual Sail into Summer fundraiser to Thursday September 24, 2020.
“In an effort to responsibly protect our friends and supporters, The Clagett Regatta is monitoring the current Coronavirus situation. The Clagett Regatta Fundraising Committee, in consultation with members of the Executive Committee of The Clagett Board of Directors, has decided to reschedule the 2020 Clagett Fundraiser. The Fundraiser will be postponed and will be held on September 24, 2020. It will no longer occur on May 14, 2020. We hope this proactive decision making will help to keep The Clagett Regatta’s supporters happy and healthy. We look forward to the 2020 Clagett Fundraiser and wish you a joyful Spring and Summer season,” said Clagett President and Co-Founder Judy Clagett McLennan.
The Clagett Regatta is still scheduled to occur in Newport, RI from June 16-21, 2020 as planned.

About the C. Thomas Clagett, Jr. Memorial Clinic and Regatta: Founded in 2003, the C. Thomas Clagett, Jr. Memorial Clinic and Regatta honors the late Tom Clagett (1916-2001), a U.S. Navy World War II veteran who learned to sail on Chesapeake Bay. As a youngster he suffered temporary paralysis as the result of a bout of meningitis; an experience that left him with a deep respect for the accomplishments of people with disabilities.
