The C. Thomas Clagett, Jr. Memorial Clinic and Regatta is delighted to hear that the Crenshaw Bill to create tax free savings accounts for individuals with disabilities has been signed into law. On December 19 2014, President Barack Obama signed the Achieving a Better Life Experience Act (ABLE Act), into law. The author of the ABLE Act is Congressman Ander Crenshaw, who first introduced legislation to create ABLE accounts in 2006. This legislative reform for disabled individuals is the first in 25 years and will allow millions to live a more independent life.
"We are very pleased to see this act be signed into law and congratulate Congressman Ander Crenshaw for his efforts in providing those individuals with disabilities the opportunity to live a more independent life. We would like to thank the entire RI Delegation for voting for this important legislation," commented Clagett co founder Judy McLennan.
