Video of the second annual Clagett/Oakcliff Match Race Regatta available
Newport, R.I. (November 21, 2017) – Over the weekend of August 25-27, 27 sailors gathered in Oyster Bay, New York to take part in the second annual Clagett/Oakcliff Match Race Regatta for sailors with disabilities.
Sailors traveled from across the US to attend the regatta which had well known match racing coaches, Dave Perry and Dave Dellenbaugh passing on a wealth of knowledge and skills to the sailors.
A number of the sailors had been participants at the first Clagett/Oakcliff Match Race Regatta in 2016 and the eventual winner was a return sailor, Pauline Dowell from Boston, Mass. Dowell, who is a blind sailor, went on to sail in the Blind World Sailing Championships in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
"The Clagett/Oakcliff Match Race Regatta has proved to be a popular racing format for sailors with disabilities and we are very pleased that the sailors returned from the inaugural regatta to put the skills and knowledge they learned then into practice this year. We look forward to many more regattas were sailors can learn a new racing format and challenge themselves to continue to develop and tune their racing skills," commented Clagett President and Co-Founder, Judy McLennan.
The video for the second clinic and regatta is now available for viewing here.
