Who is an able bodied sailor and what do they do?

An Able-Bodied sailor, or AB, is someone who joins a disabled crew as an extra pair of hands. To be an AB, you should feel comfortable doing any job asked of you both on and off of the race course. Many sailors with disabilities compete, with or without an AB, in both para and open regattas. |

If you have experience in any of the following disciplines, you are suited to become an AB:
You will have to undergo volunteer training (see Volunteer Training section).
To get involved, you can contact your local adaptive sailing organization (see Adaptive Resource Map section) and ask to get involved. Each program is likely to have its own volunteer training.
